As I sit in my bed at 12:30 am on New Year's Eve writing this post, I am actively trying to decide what to wear tonight. You would think after my post a couple days ago, I would have an outfit. But I have no idea. I'm going to a party at my best friend's house. It'll be pretty casual, and I'm really struggling with what to wear. If I were going somewhere formal, I would re-wear my Christmas Eve skirt with something a little more NYE appropriate. At this point I'll probably throw on a sweater and a pair of jeans and call it quits. So a few minutes ago, I decided to paint my nails (literally they drying as I type). I turned to my two, absolute favorite nail polishes (Lincoln Park After Dark and Glitzerland). I used LPAD for four of my five nails, and Glitzerland for the ring finger to add a little sparkle. I love that the color is dark, but not completely black. The purple makes it a little softer while keeping the intensity. The shimmer just adds a little NYE flare to my usual color.
If you haven't noticed from the pictures, I have extremely curly hair. Knowing this, you are probably wondering why I am recommending a curling iron to you. Like everyone else, I need a change of pace. Since straightening is nearly impossible (and takes hours), I like to change my curls sometimes. I love this wand because it gives me the options I want without having to have multiple tools. What do you think? Do you have any other recommendations? I'd love to hear from you!
By now I think you all know how I love a good bargain. Tulle skirts are no different. I love how feminine and different they can be. I love the lace on this skirt (I can't decide if I like it better in blue). But, I also really like the plain black. You can find the two splurge options here and here. Let me know what you think!
1. christmas eve
If you read my earlier post (the weather did have me edit the outfit slightly), you know Christmas Eve is a big deal in my family. I loved the outfit I wore, and it was so nice to catch up with my family that came in from around the country.
2. One direction
So on Tuesday night, I did what every self-respecting, 17 year old girl should have done. I watched the One Direction TV Special on NBC, and loved every single second of it. OH MY GOSH I'M OBSESSED. But that really isn't anything new.
3. BEan boots
Santa got me a pair of Bean Boots for Christmas, and I think I'm in love. They are so warm and cute and actually practical. Definitely a good thing to get BEFORE I go off to college.
4. THe theory of everything
I went to see this movie with the girls from my physics class. Honestly, we originally went because we are all obsessed with Eddie Redmayne (we have been since we first saw him in Les Mis two years ago) . But I ended up loving the movie, and highly recommend it to everyone. It's an inspiring story, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
On Saturday, my lovely sister graduation for THE Pennsylvania State University. We are all so happy for her, and could not wait for the big day. I've been busy with school, and didn't have time to go buy a new outfit. So I wore this dress I bought back in the fall with these tights, these flats, and this necklace (featured in my last post!). I think I was dressed just right for the occasion (maybe not the below freezing temperatures), and it was a great time for everyone.
As far as I'm concerned, there is no better way to complete an outfit than a statement necklace. I wear them all the time. It's really sad how expensive they can be. I have been on a mission to find affordable and cute statement necklace to share with you (and buy for myself). I must say, I think I found a couple winners. I hope you enjoy my picks from Baublebar, Jeweliq, and Francesca's.
I was in Forever 21 the other day, and found the cutest jacket for less than $40. I was so inspired that I decided to dedicate a whole post the great coats there. I hope you like my five favorites I posted.
Elf is known for selling high quality products for very low prices. So today I decided to go on the elf website today because I want a new blush for winter, and I was met with the most wonderful surprise. EVERYTHING is 40% off!! Therefore, I bought about 200% more. The deals were just so good. I couldn't help myself. Everything I bought was ended up being under $5 (a lot of it was under $2). I made a slideshow of some of the things I really liked, but you should check it out for yourself.
So lately I've really been racking up the Birchbox points. I had about 400, and decided to buy something. I settled on these lip pencils because I wanted something different (with my points, I only paid $2!!!). I must say, I'm truly impressed with them. The colors are so pretty, and stay on for a long time. My favorite is the second one from the left(pictured above). I just cannot get over what a great buy this was.
